5 Top Tips For Eco-Friendly Cleaning At Home

Leading a more sustainable life is certainly a journey and you have to start somewhere, so why not start with your home and see if there are ways in which you can become more eco-friendly with your cleaning regime?

There’s a lot that can be achieved in this regard and before you know it, you’ll soon be incredibly environmentally conscious when it comes to the products you use and the brands you choose to shop with.

Cleaning products often come in plastic bottles and, all too often, the bottles are then just thrown in the recycling bin and new ones bought in their place.

While it’s great that we have recycling facilities, a good mantra for sustainability is to reduce, reuse and recycle as a last resort - so why not buy reusable bottles and then invest in water-soluble sachets. You simply drop these into your bottle, fill with warm water and away you go - instantly reducing the amount of plastic being sent to landfill.

Also think about the white goods you have at home. Do you use your tumble dryer a lot? You can help reduce your energy consumption by drying clothes on the line or on a maiden. And if you have the time, washing clothes by hand can help reduce your reliance on your washing machine, as well.

And using a dustpan and brush to do a quick sweep each day means you don’t have to bring out the vacuum cleaner as much, reducing your energy use even further.
