Citric acid is one of the most widespread acids in the plant world. It can be found in almost all fruits, woods, funguses and even in tobacco. Citric acid boasts remarkable descaling properties, excelling at dissolving and eliminating stubborn limescale. It is a natural de-greaser which works well on stubborn grease inside the oven or on the kitchen hob.
 
For small and large domestic appliances descaling: dilute 1 or 2 tablespoons of citric acid in 1L of cold water and use this solution to descale coffee machines and kettles. Rinse with clear water afterwards.
 
Use this solution to descale taps and shower heads. 
 
Dishwasher: add citric acid to the detergent compartment in the dishwasher and run on a normal cycle.

Microwave: place a bowl of water with citric acid in the microwave and heat it for a few minutes. This not only helps to deodorise the microwave but also makes it easier to wite away any food splatters. 
 
Washing machine: To remove limescale from your washing machine, put 6 to 8 tablespoons of acid in the drum and run on a cycle (90°C).
